Kingdom Hearts Manga
In 2003 SquareEnix's manga anthology, Monthly Shonen Gangan, began the serialization of a manga adaptation of the Kingdom Hearts series. The Kingdom Hearts manga has since been published in three series, Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II, and is available in English through Tokyopop.
The manga was created by Shiro Amano, the artist responsible for the similar adaptation of Legend of Mana, and generally remains faithful to the original plotline and character designs featured in the games. The style of the comic itself is that of a fairly standard gag-manga, with sweat beads and scribbles a plenty. Each volume is followed by omake or bonus material such as character designs and short 'gag strips' featuring characters in humourous situations.
Amano has made some minor changes to the order of events, such as character introduction and dialogue. For example, the first visit to Traverse Town, in which Sora, Donald and Goofy meet, is slightly different in the comic due to the absence of Aerith, leaving Yuffie say dialogue in her place. Aerith does not make an appearance in the manga until Sora has visited Agrabah, and after this her appearances are few and far between.
